Texas Mold Remediation Contractor Practice Exam 2026 – Complete Prep Guide

The recommended cleaning methods for non-porous surfaces such as plastics and metals are based on their ability to effectively remove mold and contaminants without damaging the material. The chosen methods include wet vacuuming, damp wiping, and HEPA vacuuming, all of which are effective in addressing mold and preventing spores from becoming airborne.

Wet vacuuming helps in removing excess moisture and mold growth, while damp wiping with a cloth designed for the task aids in cleaning surfaces without spreading contaminants. HEPA vacuuming is vital as it captures fine particles, including mold spores, ensuring they are not released back into the environment.

While other methods might seem applicable, they may not be effective or can potentially harm the non-porous surfaces. For instance, using steam cleaning could risk damage to certain moisture-sensitive items, and pressure washing is more suited for outdoor applications rather than for delicate surfaces. Discarding items might not be necessary when appropriate cleaning methods can effectively restore them. Therefore, the combination of wet vacuuming, damp wiping, and HEPA vacuuming provides a comprehensive approach to cleaning non-porous surfaces.
